Enjoying the beauty of nature

Cross the Gerfleur bridge with a thought for the washerwomen of by-gone days and the famous "Mère Denis", go round the inlet and go on as far as the dune of Barneville. What a selection of picture, smells, plants and unexpected things if you know how to look around and walk at the same time.

Good shoes and a good pull-over, that is what you need. Go from the "petit port" and admire the gardens of the marina, follow the "rue des Ormes" where the schooner captains built beautiful houses.

To master the cape on a windy and rainy morning is a pleasure forgotten by car drivers and town people who can't bear rough weather. On a clear day, the cliffs are like a real balcony from where one can discover the Anglo-Norman islands. Whether you are alone or with a lover, it is a precious moment to enjoy the "chemin des douaniers" (a pass that the customs officers checking the arriving boats used to take). Keep silent and let yourself be filled with the peacefulness of the place. End this solitary walk in the hidden places of the dunes and have a rest near the ruins of the "old church", remnants of the old village which disappeared in the sand.
