Gaffard manor (registered on listed Monument)
On the road to la Haye d'Ectot one can see it on the D903 side road. The present manor replaces an old fortified house which was occupied by the English during the hundred years war. It was built in 1574-1575. Partially destroyed at the beginning of the 19th century, it remains, however a noteworthy example of the Renaissance style and of how the "style rustique" was introduced in France around 1551 by the Italian architect Sebastien Serlio (It is a private property).

Carteret manor
This manor, near the marina, is a solid building dating from the very beginning of the 17th century. This old manor is famous because it is where Barbey d'Aurevilly stayed when he wrote "Une Vieille Maîtresse" and where most of the action took place. (It's a private property). |
